C.F.J. König was born in Vienna. Innumerable periods abroad and study trips inspired him in his art, and still do. He completely exposes himself during the creative process, in which the sum of impressions and influences converge and materialise in the acts of painting and transformation. While he works, he finds his own level of awareness, in which concepts and meanings are awakened. It is a transformational phase, a return to sources and origins, moments that make time and space one for him. Technique, material and method become the end in itself. The act of realisation is itself the actual meaning. He regards habitual conditions and requirements as burdensome, irritating and unfree. The reduction to the creative process and the confrontation with other, new boundaries is one of his challenges, which do not just represent a template to be reproduced in this process. The work itself unfolds as transformation, as the quintessence of creation, a parturition, and each of his works is a witness of it. |
